Frozen Forage is an Annual Brassica mix that produces a ton of leafy forage for wildlife. Meant to be planted in the Fall (August,September) this mix can germinate in as little as 3 days and start producing feed that wildlife tend to leave alone until it gets frosted, making this mix a great attraction during Fall hunting seasons! Widely adaptable to all soil types this mix grows so quickly that it can effectively smother weed competition and leave the plot clean and weed free for planting a perennial mix in the Spring.

The land I lease for hunting has a small clearing way back in the woods and I asked the Farmer that I lease from if I could plant something back there and he said I could but I had no way of getting planting equipment back to the plot so I tried Midwest Wildlife Zone’s new No-Till mix and the Frozen Forage Brassica mix . I sprayed the existing weeds in early July and when the weeds were dead and brown I hand raked and broadcast the mix’s the first week of August and with the help of a couple rains I had a great patch of green in the middle of nowhere that the wildlife kept visiting all Fall and continue into Winter!
